Target-ID is the first Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy identification system developed specifically to support narcotics interdiction efforts. Combining the power, speed, and accuracy of FTIR with a library of up to 2,500 narcotics, precursors, cutting agents and common chemicals, Target-ID returns identification results in a matter of seconds without damaging or degrading the sample. Target-ID is also capable of identifying emerging designer drugs and local variants can be added to the expandable user library. In addition, personnel of varying skill levels will find the software interface intuitive and easy to navigate.

Lightweight and easily transportable, Target-ID provides hours of operation on a single battery charge and also accepts commercially available disposable batteries or line power if needed.
The abuse of the dangerous drug fentanyl and its related analogs is sparking a new opioid crisis around the world. Forty to fifty times stronger than street-level heroin, the fentanyl narcotics, even in extremely low doses, can kill. The number of overdoses through illicit drug use have reached a critical level – these drugs are so potent that it is impossible to distinguish by eye whether a dose of powder will be fatal. Furthermore, the risk of accidental exposure when fentanyl-containing bulk powders or trace particles are present has become a major safety issue for law enforcement, first responders and public workers. Accidental ingestion, inhalation or skin contact with even small amounts can lead to respiratory distress, disorientation and even cardiac arrest.
