Winkler Knives is a limited production
company that custom manufactures a diverse line of high performance
edged tools. It was established in response to requests from within the
Special Operations Forces community for specialized breaching tools and
has become widely acclaimed for its no-frills approach to tactical and
rescue operations. Their unique processes, executed by craftsmen under
the direct supervision of Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler, result in
handmade knives and axes without custom-made prices.
The Belt
Knife is Winkler Knives' most popular design. It measures in at 9.25"
overall with a 5" Caswell no-glare black oxide finish clip point blade.
The blade is made from 80CRV2 which is an extremely tough high carbon
tool steel with excellent edge holding capabilities. The tapered full
tang is sandwiched between two slabs of smooth maple wood with a tribal
pattern engraved into the scales. The overall fit and finish and the
attention to detail are certainly visible on this knife with Winkler
Knives deciding to do intricate file work rather than standard jimping
on the thumb ramp. It's perfectly balanced and the size and shape will
lend well to most all applications. It's an ideal tool for both outdoor
enthusiasts and tactical operators. Each Belt Knife includes an
ambidextrous lined Kydex leather belt sheath, malice clips, MOLLE loop
attachment and hardware.
