Winkler Knives is a limited production
company that custom manufactures a diverse line of high performance
edged tools. It was established in response to requests from within the
Special Operations Forces community for specialized breaching tools and
has become widely acclaimed for its no-frills approach to tactical and
rescue operations. Their unique processes, executed by craftsmen under
the direct supervision of Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler, result in
handmade knives and axes without custom-made prices.
The WK Blue
Ridge Hunter fixed blade knife has all the versatility of the famed Belt
Knife but with a smaller profile. It is well suited to processing game
and most everyday cutting chores. It measures in at 8" overall with a
4.25" Caswell no-glare black oxide drop point blade. The blade is made
from 80CRV2 which is an extremely tough high carbon tool steel with
excellent edge holding capabilities. The skeletonized full tang is
sandwiched between two slabs of smooth maple wood with a sleek and clean
look. The overall fit and finish and the attention to detail are
certainly visible on this knife with Winkler Knives deciding to do
intricate file work rather than standard jimping on the thumb ramp. Each
Field Knife includes an ambidextrous lined Kydex leather belt sheath,
malice clips, MOLLE loop attachment and hardware.
